Annual Assembly of Grand College took place on Saturday 8 June 2013 at the Clarendon Suites, Edgbaston, Birmingham. After 27 years as an Officer of Grand College, M Ill Kt Pt Ernest Peter Donnison retired as Grand High Priest, a post he had held for seven years.
He installed his Deputy, M Em Kt Pt Christopher Gavin Maiden as his successor as Grand High Priest. M Ill Kt Pt Maiden then appointed, obligated and invested R Ill Kt Pt Ian Paterson Duff as Deputy Grand High Priest who now enjoys the title of M Em Kt Pt. The Grand High Priest then appointed and invested R Ill Kt Pt Michael Arthur Hadfield and R Em Kt Pt Dr Donald John Woodgate as Assistant Grand High Priests. Michael was previously installed as an Assistant in March on the retirement of R Ill Kt Pt J Alan Marchington. Donald will now enjoy the title of R Ill Kt Pt.
On Friday 7 June, at an Especial Assembly, M Ill Kt Pt Ernest Peter Donnison had the pleasure of appointing, installing and investing R Em Kt Pt Colin Birkbeck as Grand Superintendent for East Anglia, District No 7 as successor to R Ill Kt Pt Woodgate; R Em Kt Pt Andrew Lind McLelland as Grand Superintendent for Canada Central, District No 20 as successor to R Em Kt Pt Douglas Draker who retired after eight years as Grand Superintendent, and R Em Kt Pt Antonie Peter van Aartsen as Grand Superintendent for the Netherlands, District No 29 as successor to R Ill Kt Pt Bartel Smit who had completed nine years as Grand Superintendent. M Ill Kt Pt Ernest Peter Donnison rewarded Bartel by conferring upon him the Grand High Priests Award.
On Friday evening, at the Ladies™ Dinner, around 180 members and their Ladies were present. After M Ill Kt Pt Donnison had proposed the health of the Ladies, R Ill Kt Pt John Alan Marchington proposed a toast to Peter and presented him with a hamper containing six bottles of Speyside and Islay malt whisky, ranging from 8 year old to 21 year old, on behalf of members of the Executive Committee.
