it is with regret that we advise that R Ill Kt Pt P Philip Michael Ward Knowles GHP Awd (Michael) passed away on 7 March 2015.
Michael had a long and distinguished membership of the Order, being admitted in 1970. He served as Grand Director of Ceremonies from 1992 until 1999. From 1982 he had been Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies.
In 1998 he was the second recipient of the Grand High Priest’s Award. With R Ill Kt Pt Reg Cooley, he co-authored the Order’s History The Priestly Order.
His funeral took place at All Saints Church, York on 19 March.
